History Of The CRS Chassis
Close Racing Supply opened for business in early 1996 supplying circle track parts to local racers. It wasn't until 2000 that Close Racing Supply owner and successful late model driver Bob Close teamed up with former late model crew chief Joel Smith to build the ultimate stock clip car. This came about after realizing that the equipment and help that was previously available to the racers in this class was well below average. Seeing racers having to modify their parts and nothing seeming to fit their particular car was disturbing. Racing in this class was also below average with lots of poor handling cars. After some request from racers we decided to start perfecting a late model quality car for lower division racing. A chassis that was designed to be tougher and more rugged to handle the abuse of 2700 lbs lower division racing. A chassis that each component would fit perfect without any modification. We saw racers previously with clearance problems on fuel pumps, oil pans, steering shafts, headers and other items because builders did not make the extra effort to make sure everything fit properly. Also, lots of components that were on the market were a universal fit part, meaning they would work but not be the absolute perfect part for their application. So we decided to custom build a better part for our application. One that would also enhance performance and once again be strong enough to take the abuse of lower division racing. Through the years we continue to perfect both our chassis and components. We now have four full time employees with over 40 years of combined full time racing experience. We also design and build a lot of our own custom suspension components that are now being used by other chassis builders as well, although CRS was the original innovators of a majority of custom components for today's stock clip cars. We take pride in building the highest quality, safest, most durable, yet affordable stock clip car on the market today. Compare the quality, compare the performance, and compare the results. We've got the competition beat! Over 30 track championships including 6 time BRP Can-Am 360 Late Model championships and over two hundred feature wins in over seven states and Canada too.
